Jump join Mindful Chef in Great British Beach Clean

During Covid it was proving difficult to get the team together for our planned beach clean in 2020, so we paired up with our client Mindful Chef to join the annual Mindful Chef Coastal Clean.

10 of the JUMP team hit Southend on Sea on the 19th of September. 5 hours later our little team had collected 35 kilos of rubbish! In 2020 Mindful Chef partnered with the Marine Conservation Society (MCS) as part of The Great British Beach Clean – the largest beach clean in the UK which has been running for 26 years! We’re really proud to be working with MCS and Mindful Chef.

Why beach cleans?
Printing Smartly, Sustainably and Mindfully is at the heart of everything that we do. Our Carbon Balanced Print Programme with the World Land Trust and our Tree Planting Programme with Ecologi are central to our mission, but we also have a Community Volunteer Programme that supports local charities, and each member of the JUMP team to complete 10 hours of community volunteering per year. This year as part of our Volunteer Programme we decided to run a beach clean as the statistics about plastic entering the oceans is shocking and getting worse. Around 12 million tonnes of plastic enters our ocean every year – which is the equivalent of a rubbish truck every minute! Research has also found that between 60% and 90% of marine debris is made of plastic. There’s been a sharp rise in single use plastics due to Coronavirus, and as lock-down eases and we return to the beauty spots across the UK it felt more important than ever that we played a small part in helping with this big problem.
